Tooth decay, also known as dental caries or cavities, is proven to be the oldest disease of the modern world. By definition it’s local pathological process which happens because of the acids made by bacteria and can lead to demineralization of dental tissue. Bacteria which inhabit hard surfaces of the mouth form biofilm. With the progression of surface demineralization cavitation forms which is known as dental caries.
Dental caries is not only a problem of esthetic values but it can cause pain, especially as a form of a reaction towards different factors such as savor or heat – salty, sweet flavors or warm, cold temperature sensations.
The most important thing for the treatment of dental caries are early detection and, if possible, prevention. Because of that we always recommend and insist on regular checkups. Untreated dental caries can lead to inflammation of dental pulp tissue, also known as pulpitis, which is followed by strong pain. In such cases we apply efficient methods of treatment and appropriate therapy.
Treatment implies complete removal of dental cavity and replacement of dental tissue with the most modern and esthetically pleasing white fillings specially adjusted to the color of the patients teeth but also taking right steps into assuring that the inflammatory process doesn’t repeat.
